He left it with us from time to time when he was away with work. But we were so attached to this lion cub that it ended up staying at our house for six months. We couldn\u2019t keep it any longer than that though. We were heartbroken to see it go.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A little while later, we took on <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">a Somalian nanny.<\/span><\/strong> I think <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">she really gave us the bug for Africa.<\/span><\/strong> Our passion from Africa comes from these memories that are deeply rooted in our family history, which <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">became the favorite continent for 3 generations : me, Simonetta (48), my mother (83) and my daughter (21).<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And so the idea for this <span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"><strong>intergenerational trip<\/strong><\/span> was born out of this passion for Africa that links us together \u201c<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e48709c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e48709c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What was the highlight of the trip for you ?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-624c97f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"624c97f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere were so many. To be truthful, there were highlights in each safari, day and moment.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But if <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">I<\/span><\/strong> had to choose one, it would be coming <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">face to face with a family of young lions in the Selous Game Reserve<\/span><\/strong>, no doubt because of my fascination with lions. When you find yourself a meter or a meter and a half from lions, you feel like <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">you are discovering your inner child,<\/span> <\/strong>standing completely alone in front of animal life and becoming at one with nature. You feel moved, and calm. <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">You forget everything.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Beyond this powerful feeling, what left a profound mark on <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">all three of us<\/span><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"> was finding ourselves faced with several generations of lions.<\/span> <\/strong>There were two males, some cubs and several females, three of which clearly stood out from the group. Then we started to hear branches moving more and more in the trees. The elephants had arrived. They were all around us.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">Hearing and smelling the bush evokes a truly extraordinary feeling. <\/span><\/strong>Then the ranger lit the torch, which the <span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"><strong>mother elephant<\/strong><\/span> who was standing three meters away from us really didn\u2019t like. She started <span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"><strong>to<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"><strong>trumpet with all her might<\/strong> <\/span>in the middle of the night. She was in a real temper. You are far away from everything there, i<strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">n a virgin land<\/span><\/strong> that is <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">home to one of the last colonies of wild chimpanzees in the world.<\/span><\/strong> The crystal waters of <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">Lake Tanganyika<\/span><\/strong> are before you, and a mountain covered in thundering waterfalls is at your back.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Excitement mounts as you enter<strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"> the forest<\/span><\/strong>. You are straining <span style=\"color: #bfa800;\"><strong>to detect the slightest movement,<\/strong> <\/span>the smallest sign, the quietest cry, and the smallest movement of leaves in the trees. And then suddenly, you see them everywhere. They know you are there and stop what they are doing and <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">look you in the eye<\/span><\/strong>. They seem like a family. And you don\u2019t move a muscle. It\u2019s as if time is suspended in a waking dream. It is in the canvas tents that are spacious, open and perfectly integrated into their surroundings. It is in the showers where you can hear (or see, if you wish to) the grunting of the hippos that live in the lake just a stone\u2019s throw away. It is also in the encounters you have there. The <strong><span style=\"color: #bfa800;\">human dimension<\/span><\/strong> there is so strong that it entices you away from your accommodation. For example, the general manager of the lodge is passionate about the stars. At night, head to the garden and he will teach you the constellations with a glass in hand.
